Nolu Crockett-Ntonga is a creative communicator, a skilled manager, a caring mentor and an enthusiastic motivator, who has worked in more than 20 countries. With 10 years of experience advising senior leaders and implementing all aspects of communications for multi-million dollar organizations, Nolu has extensive worldwide contacts including Capitol Hill, the White House, the State Department, the Department of Defense, and the media.

As a Communications Adviser at The Africa Center for Strategic Studies–the pre-eminent Department of Defense institution for strategic Africa security studies, research, and global outreach–Nolu led a team in developing and launching the first eNewsletter which had been stalled for two years before she undertook the project.

At CARE, the international humanitarian organization with more than 10,000 employees in 70 countries, Nolu set up the advocacy communications practice in the Washington, DC office. She successfully developed and implemented communications outreach campaigns that advanced leadership goals on climate change, food security and other issues, and helped pioneer the use of social media tools to build and engage online communities.

Previously, Nolu was a communications advisor to members of President Nelson Mandela’s cabinet. Based first in Johannesburg, South Africa and then Yaoundé, Cameroon, Nolu lived and worked in Africa for 10 years advising leaders in government, civil society and faith-based organizations on communications and outreach strategies.

Nolu’s experience as a journalist who covered the White House, Congress and federal agencies for National Public Radio, built a great foundation for her communications and public affairs career.

She received her B.A. from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and her M.S. from Northwestern University. She was a Knight Fellow at Stanford University and is the founder of The Association of Life Long Learners. Born and raised on Chicago’s South Side, Nolu now makes her home in the Washington, DC area where she loves to cook and entertain family and friends.
